As I mentioned some time back, I started reading this book by Archer over the holidays. At the time I wondered if I would be able to finish the book before the holidays end. As luck would have it, the next day (and the only such day during the entire week) I was freed of my duties of supervising the workmen who held household captive for the rest of the vacation. It was a bright, sunny day - ideal to laze about. So I took a chair out in the sun, and sat down to read. And by late afternoon, I was through! I manage to surprise even myself at such times - I finished the 700 page novel in three days! (though that does not compare with my 'personal best' - I finished 'Godfather' overnight :-) )
As BTR and Leziblogger advised, and as expected from my past experience with Archer, it was an interesting read. Although the story was typical of Archer - a determined struggle by the protagonist(s) from rags to riches, strewn with a lot of drama - it manages to capture your imagination very successfully. You cannot but hate the villains of the piece for their evil doings, and sympathize with the protagnists. But there were a little too many coincidences in the way the characters cross each others' paths. And I could not find how did the story justified the title (or vice-versa, if you please).
There is nothing you would miss if you haven't read this one, especially if you have come across Jeffery Archer before. But if you have time to spare, you might as well enjoy it!

Ha Ha.. I liked the last para !!
SO let me not miss it for some more time :P
Have other books to start which I thought would be very challenging (to start) for me looking at the amount of time I am getting these days. :((
Good to read and yes I will take a chance!
Thanks to you
Cheers
Go on not missing it :-) Happy Reading .... do let me know what all are you reading these days :-)) I need some reading material too ....
Thanks Dawn, welcome to my blog. It is not really taking a chance, at least I quite liked it :-) Just the fact that many of his books are rather similar ...
Hmmm so finally you finished , that was one of the reason I stopped reading Sidney...stories sort of very predictable.
I like Archer's short stories.
I finsihed Horse Whisperer...and now I have this book on Bodhisatva ( that also in hindi...) given by this monk when I met him on my recent trek to Pandav Kholi.
And the reason why I stopped reading Robin Cook. They were all hopelessly alike. I like Archer's stories too. Have read two or three collections, but not read Horse Whisperer yet. I guess I'll borrow it from you :-)
Please any time...raid my library...let me know when u want it....I am back in India on 19th so can post it anytime after that....!
Hope all well on Indian front....I have heard that its really very bitting cold out there....just keep yrself warm...tk care
hmmm ... I might just take you up on the offer :-D
So, where are you visiting ? Hope you are having a good time, whereever it is :-)
Yup, the weather is definitely chilly these days. But I think it will moderate by next week when you return :-)
In Germany...frankfurt to be precise....I am so much behind all the stuff...I had thought of posting a very nice excerpt from Horse Whisperer....very beautiful lines...so I can't do that...as I remember only 1/2 of it and I don't want to quote incorrect stuff...and also add on to that...I am finding so much tough to track all other blogger and their writing....Like u posted a sketch....Cuckoo has done 2 post more...( I am already behind few of hers which I read and need to comment....)
Merisi' has posted lots of pics...phew.....its tough when internet is limited and work is already above yr head.....
BTW - weather is so perfect here...13 degree or so...which is quite unusual during this time of year...no snow...Global warning....is a serious thing...!
Lastly - I don't offer if I don't mean it...pls most welcome.
Point taken :-)
Hmmm ... 13 degrees ... it is definitely warmer out there ... as the papers reported, there was no snow in New York either, which is the usual at this time of year. Yes, global warming is indeed a serious concern.
Me ... I am not at all regular in my posting ... am still capitalizing on my week long vacation for that :-)
Since after the holidays, I have been swamped with work. So much so, I am even thinking of posting my first technical article here :-)
hmmm...the sketch of not very well known actress comes under "techinical" ....very interesting....I like it....!!
See u on weekend !!
haha! I said I am thinking of posting a techincal article. Not that it is going to be my next one. My "technical article" is not yet finished, and I am not even sure it is not confidential info ;-)
ok...lady got it...you pull my leg so often I thought I would try turning tables on you...!
So you don't want me to sleep during the weekend and relax after a hectic trip..right!!
Touche'! haha.
Well, I wouldn't dream of not letting you relax. So, in aid of that, I have posted a poem - I hope it will prove to be sufficiently boring to put you to sleep. ;-)
I am here by recommendaiton of bendtherulz
The title denotes to the jouney of Charile from owning a small burrow to owning all flats of Chelsa.
The distance between his old barrow and Chelsa is short, as the crow flies, but it takes his lifespan to move from one point to another.
